Madikeri: The District Administration on Thursday prohibited movement of vehicles between Perumbadi near Virajpet and Makutta on the fringe zone connecting Kerala till July 12 following landslides and tree falls.

Kodagu Deputy Commissioner PI Sreevidya said more than 25 places on the highway saw significant landslides after heavy rainfall. On Wednesday night, a man died after a tree fell on his vehicle.

The District Administration said people can utilize the Gonikoppal-Shrimangala-Kutta route to reach Kerala.

Heavy rains continued to disturb the normal life in Kodagu on Thursday, as well, with water levels rising hazardously in Cauvery river and other streams.
