Vitla: Two labourers, engaged in well ring works, died due to asphyxiation in Padibagilu of Kepu Village here on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Ibbu alias Ibrahim (40) and Ali (24), residents of Kukkila and Malar respectively.

The incident occurred when the labourers were engaged in putting a ring in a 30-foot-deep well. Ibrahim, an experienced worker with twenty years of expertise in this field, descended into the well to clean it. However, he lost consciousness allegedly due to a lack of oxygen.

Upon noticing Ibrahim’s absence, Ali who had been helping also got into into the well to check on him. Unfortunately, he too fell victim to the same fate and lost his life due to insufficient oxygen.

The bodies of the deceased were later retrieved with the assistance of local residents. They have been transferred to the mortuary of Vitla Community Hospital for further legal proceedings.
