A viral video from Uttar Pradesh will make you fall in love with its bizarre food preparation. This food is cooked in the sand and is sold only for 25 bucks.

A street vendor at Bhola Bazaar in Manipuri has been selling ‘bhuna aloo’ where the potatoes are sauteed on a huge pan filled with only sand. He’s been doing this for the past seven years.

The potatoes are tossed on the sand with their skin for about 20 minutes and once they turn black, the potatoes are transferred into a big sieve where the seller frisks them thoroughly, which allows the potato skin to automatically come off.

The freshly baked potatoes are served with a chutney that’s made of coriander, tomatoes, ginger, and garlic, and a ‘masala’ of ground spices and butter.

The video was shared by Amar Sirohi, a food blogger on Facebook.

In the video, potatoes are boiling along with the sand over the furnace while the seller stirs the chutney.
