Heavy rains coupled with gusty winds lashed parts of Subramanya leaving a trail of destruction on Saturday, April 29.

Roads in low-lying regions were flooded, while a fallen tree slowed traffic on the main route near Kumaradhara. Noochila Kushalappa’s house lost its roof, costing around Rs. 50,000, while a coconut tree fell on Bhavani K.S.’s house, inflicting damage estimated at Rs. 30,000. In the Vidyanagar region, cement sheets and sections of rental dwellings were blown away, while tree limbs damaged electric cables and poles in many areas.

In Kumara Parvata and surrounding areas, heavy rains and winds were also reported, with Darpana Theerth being flooded.

Sullia taluk also experienced heavy rains, accompanied by thunder and wind, resulting in flooding on roads in some areas.

Meanwhile, due to the recent continuous rainfall, the water level in Payaswini has risen slightly. The rainfall has raised hopes that the water shortage problem in the city will be resolved in the next 20-25 days.
