Lakshmeshwar: Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that he will conduct a State-wide tour to revive the JD(S) in the State and form an independent government through ‘Panchratna’ programmes giving new shape to farmers’ economic empowerment, education, health, employment and housing schemes.

He was addressing a news conference at the residence of the district’s party general secretary Shankara Balikai in the town here after attending the induction ceremony of various functionaries from other parties into the JD(S).

“Youth members and the leadership of the JD(S) will be touring the State as well. The development work undertaken during our party’s tenure is the ‘sriraksha’ for our party,” he said.

“In 2007, when I was the chief minister, I stayed in Sugnalli village in Shirahatti constituency. At that time, Rs 24 crore was approved for the development of the Aladamma Tank in the village. I came here following an invitation from local MLAs to start the lake development work. But the MLAs listened to someone and cancelled the work. We are not upset and have won’t make any allegations about this. Good luck to them. The main objective of the visit was to meet party workers, listening to the problems of the people of taluk and visit Balehosur Dingaleshwar Sri,” he added.

“In the upcoming Assembly elections, a strategy will be devised to win the Shirahatti constituency by fielding a strong candidate from JD(S). Party’s youth members will be fielded as candidates in all constituencies in the upcoming gram panchayat and taluk panchayat elections,” Kumaraswamy said.
