Woman held for smoking on B’luru-bound Indigo flight

A 24-year-old woman named Priyanka Chakraborty from Sealdah district, West Bengal has been arrested after she was caught smoking inside the lavatory of the Kolkata-Bengaluru IndiGo flight.

The incident took place on Sunday at midnight just before the flight’s scheduled landing in Bengaluru.

The flight crew got alerted by the smell of smoke and made Priyanka open the door. Upon checking they found that Priyanka discarded the cigarette in the dustbin after which the crew poured water on it. The matter was informed to the flight captain who declared Priyanka an unruly passenger.

After landing at Bengaluru, the crew handed Priyanka over to airport security.

A police complaint was lodged against her by Shankar K, the assistant manager of security at Interglobe Aviation, BIAL. Based on the complaint police booked Priyanka for putting the lives and personal safety of others in danger.
