All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday condemned the brutal murder of a Hindu man in public view allegedly over his inter-faith marriage.
B Nagaraju, a sales executive at a car showroom, was killed in public view by his wife Ashrin’s brother and another relative on Wednesday night at Saroornagar in Hyderabad. The accused, Syed Mobin Ahmed and Mohammed Masood Ahmed, who came on a scooter, stopped the couple at a traffic signal and attacked him with an iron rod before stabbing him with a knife. The video clip of the incident went viral sending shockwaves across the nation.
“We condemn the [honour killing] incident that took place in Saroornagar. The woman willingly decided to get married. Her brother doesn’t have any right to kill her husband. It is a criminal act as per Constitution, and the worst crime as per Islam,” Owaisi was quoted by news agency ANI.
The duo involved were later arrested by the police.
