Yakshagana artiste Guruvappa Bayaru dies after collapsing on stage during live performance

Kateelu: In a tragic incident, a noted Yakshagana artiste died after collapsing during a live performance on Thursday night.
Guruvappa Bayaru (58), a well-known Yakshagana artiste of the Sri Durgaparameshwari Mela, died of cardiac arrest.
The famous Kateel 4th Mela, of which Guruvappa Bayaru was a member, was performing Trijanma Moksha Prasanga atthe Sarawati Sadan in Kateel on Thursday night. Bayaru, who was playing the role of Shishupala, suddenly collapsed during the concluding scene of the play in front of a packed audience.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.
After joining the Kateel Mela in 2013, Bayaru performed with the troupe. For his performances, he had been recognized with several honors.
