Yatnal to be LoP, Ashwath Narayan for BJP state president?

Bengaluru: Amid brewing discontent among BJP party cadres over allegations of adjustment politics, the party is said to have finalised candidates for the post of Leader of Opposition and party state president.

Sources said that the appointment of Basanagouda Patil Yatnal to the post of Leader of Opposition in the Assembly is almost finalised while the name of former minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan is being recommended for the party state president post.

Additionally, there are talks on appointing MLA BY Vijayendra as BJP State General Secretary, sources added. The names have been considered with an eye on the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile, it is gathered that this development has worried former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and former revenue minister R. Ashoka. If Yatnal and Ashwath Narayan are appointed to key positions in the party, it is likely that older generation leaders will have to step aside to pave the way for the younger leaders.

Rumours in the BJP party circle suggest that Bommai and Ashoka are showing their strength by immersing themselves actively in state politics.
