Bengaluru: BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel on Wednesday lashed out at former chief ministers Siddaramaiah and HD Kumaraswamy in connection with naming of a new flyover at Yelahanka in Bengaluru.
The government is all set to name the flyover, which will be inaugurated by chief minister BS Yediyurappa on Thursday after freedom fighter Veer Savarkar. Notably May 28 is also Savarkar’s birth anniversary.
Expressing their opposition, both Kumaraswamy and Siddaramaiah questioned why the flyover could not be named after a freedom fighter from Karnataka.
Reacting to this Kateel, said that had the Congress been in power the flyover would have been named after Indira Gandhi or Rajiv Gandhi.
In a series of tweets, Kateel said, “Savarkar is among those fighters who fought for the country’s independence and integrity. Siddaramaiah and Kumaraswamy must read about him before making remarks.”
On naming of flyover after a freedom fighter from Karnataka, Kateel tweeted that Congress has named institutions after Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi in the state. At that time BJP didn’t oppose the decision saying they do not hail from Karnataka
