Young woman raped, accused arrested

Mangaluru: A 19 year-old lady who had come from Kushtagi in Uttara Karnataka for day wage labour was raped. The inhuman act took place at Paldane here.  The accused has been identified as Ramu alias Dasayya (38) and has been nabbed by Mangaluru rural police.

The accused Ramu alias Dasayya is also a resident of Kushtagi and has been working in Mangaluru as a day wage workers since a few years. Since the past 2 years, he has been working as the mason in Paldane area and the lady’s family too was residing in the same area. It has been accused that Dasayya and the lady were friendly and Dasayya misused this closeness and raped her.

As soon as the lady’s family realized that she was pregnant they filed a rape complaint at Mangaluru rural police.

The police registered a rape case against Dasayya, arrested him and presented him before the court on Thursday.
