Puttur: An FIR has been filed against a youth for forcibly marrying and abducting a girl whose marriage was to be solemnized on January 25.
The girl, residing at Kushalnagar layout of Sakleshpur was to marry a man from here on January 25.
However, Satish, an Arekere village resident allegedly came to her house on January 21 with his friends forcibly married her and took her with him.
It is gathered that Satish professed his love for the girl to his friends and had attempted suicide over her marriage being fixed to someone else.
His friends took him to the girl’s house where Satish expressed his love for the girl and informed her and her mother about his suicide attempt.
After the mother of the girl expressed helplessness as her marriage has already been fixed, Satish’s friends forcibly performed his and the girl’s marriage rituals there itself.
The girl’s mother lodged a case with Sakleshpur police in this regard.
