Youth loses Rs 3.98L over ‘buy one get one thali’ free offer

A youth lost Rs 3.98 lakhs to cyber thieves after falling for a ‘buy one get one thali’ free offer posted on a Facebook page.

The victim Upendra Kumar (38), a resident of Thyagarajanagar saw a post on FB stating that he would get one Rajasthan thali free for the price of one.

After Upendra Kumar clicked on the post he got a call from an unknown number on Whatsapp asking him to download two apps and transfer Rs 1 to avail of the thali offer.

When Kumar did as directed an amount of Rs 3.98 lakh was debited from his bank account.

It was then that Kumar realized that he had been duped.
