In April, 1977, MMNL made its foray into publishing for the film and entertainment industry by publishing Roopatara, a monthly film magazine with the cover page being fittingly on Dr. Rajkumar. With in-depth analysis and widest coverage of everything in the film industry, Roopatara has been able to stand tall as the most respected and credible film magazine in Karnataka for nearly four decades and today occupies the number one position in its category among Kannada magazines.

From its very inception, Roopatara carved a niche for itself among film magazines in Karnataka by focusing on clean entertainment and crisp presentation of news from the film world, at the same time staying away from commercial gossip. While maintaining a focus on Karnataka and the southern film industry, it also brought Indian cinema closer to an eager audience in this state. Nurtured by Mr. T. Mohandas Pai, Managing Editor, Roopatara was instrumental in opening new corners of the film industry to its readers.

Today Roopatara, led forward by the Group Editor, Mr. Ravi Hedge, is a standard-bearer among newer entrants in the field, and has remained as a benchmark against which competitors are measured. The latest example of this pace-setting in the field was when Roopatara launched the first ever 3D print section in the magazine in March, 2012, to not only showcase the boundaries of innovation that it strived to cross as well as the print technology at its command to serve up information to its readers.

In addition, Roopatara is also available online here as a pay-site for non-print subscribers.
