Bengaluru: Swarajya Abhiyan Karnataka has accused the State government of saffronization of education following the Department of Public Instruction’s (DPI) decision to withdraw two pages from a lesson ‘Birth of new religions,’ which was a part of class six social studies textbook.
Earlier a delegation from the Brahmin Development Board had petitioned Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa about certain contents in this chapter be omitted as it hurts the sentiments of the community.
According to the press release by Swaraj Abhiyan Karnataka, “The removal of information about the later Vedic period is nothing but an attempt to saffronize the syllabus by undermining the teachings of Buddhism and Jainism, which, however, are very relevant today,” demanding that the government immediately withdraw the notification to omit the two pages.
