Udupi: 2 parties file murder attempt complaint against each other in Brahmavar

Brahmavar: Two complaints have been registered at the Brahmavar police station by two parties accusing the other of an attempt to murder.
According to one complaint by four persons, they were attacked by one Shankar Shanthi with an iron rod on February 20 at Barkur.
One of the complainants Manjappa Poojary (63) from Hosala village said that on February 20 at 9 am, he had visited the hall of Kachchoor Kalikamba temple located opposite his residence. There he met Praveen Acharya, Prasad Acharya, and others.
Shankar Shanthi entered with a rod in his hand, abused them, and accused them of plotting against him.
When Manjappa and others tried to stop the argument, Shankar Shanthi hit them and also shattering the glass of the temple window.
Manjappa and four others suffered injuries in the incident.
Manjappa’s son, Nitin rushed his father to Pranam Hospital in Brahmavar, whereas the other three were treated at the government hospital.
Another complaint filed at the police station by Shankar Shanthi’s wife states that Shankar, who has been fighting the injustices faced by common people, was confined in the kitchen of the hall near his house on February 20 and brutally attacked.
After hearing his wails, his wife, found him lying unconscious in a pool of blood from where she immediately took him to the Ajjarkad hospital.
In her complaint, Shanthi’s wife has accused Praveen Acharya, Prasad Acharya, Shantharam Shetty, Manjappa Poojary, and Diwakar of the attack alleging that Shanthi was fighting against the installation of a banner by the roadside which was creating problems for the people.
Brahmavar police, after having registered the two cases under different provisions of the Indian Penal Code, have started an investigation.
