Madikeri: The Virajpet police here arrested three while attempting to sell endangered and rare star tortoise for Rs 50 lakh.
Two live star tortoises and a car were seized from the arrested.
The trio was arrested by police at the bus stop at Chennangalli in Virajapet taluk carrying the turtles in their car.
They revealed that they were supposed to sell the tortoises for Rs 50 lakhs.
The three were later produced before the Civil Judge and JMFC Court at Ponnampete and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
