Udupi: The Sri Krishna Matha Parisara Pratisthana is building metal kiosks for the petty shops operating around the parking area of the Sri Krishna matha here.
There are 14 small shops in the area haphazardly built. Hence, the foundation decided to build uniform and well-designed kiosks for these shops.
“Presently, these shops were paying Rs 100 as rent. After moving into the kiosks they will pay Rs 150 as rent. Works here were ongoing for the past one month. Ten days ago there was a complaint that the kiosks do not have permission and so the works stopped. This issue was also discussed at the town council session. Concerned officials have been informed about this issue, said the town council president.
All the shops here had set up as per their owners intent. This does not give a good impression to the matha. The Pratisthana decided to organize them which is a good development. We will take all the shop operators there to the office of the town council’s office on Tuesday and will apply for permission, said Radhakrishna Shetty, honorary advisor to the Street Vendors Association.
