Belagavi: Workers of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike attacked the vehicle of a Shiv Sena leader and blackened its number plate after Shiv Sena workers earlier blackened Kannada nameboards in the city.
Vedike workers attempted to barge into the MES office at the city’s Ramalingakhind Galli. However, the police stopped them from doing so.
At the same time, when Shiv Sena leader Prakash Shirolkar arrived there in his car, the Vedike workers stopped the car and applied black ink on the car’s number plate.
Later, arguments broke out between workers of both Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and Shiv Sena after Vedike workers warned Sena counterparts not to put Marathi language boards.
Vedike’s State convenor Mahadev Talvar and district chief Deepak Gudganatti were involved in the raid.
It was reported that a tense atmosphere prevails in the city with increase in police presence in many places.
