Gold over Rs 57 lac seized from air passenger at M’luru airport

Mangaluru: Custom officials of Mangalore International Airport intercepted an air passenger who was allegedly attempting to smuggle gold in powder form mixed with solid gum concealed in his undergarments and gold in form crude chains.
The passenger identified as Ismail Ahamad Kallar hailing from Kasargod had arrived from Dubai on Friday, March 26 via Spicejet flight No. SG146.
An offense case has been registered against him and gold weighing 1.23 Kgs in net valued Rs.57,14,940 was seized from his possession.
The operation was led by Dr. Kapil Gade IRS, Deputy Commissioner. Crucial role of surveillance and interception was executed by Mr.Shrikanth K, Mr.Nagesh Kumar, Mr Naveen who are all Superintendent rank officers.
