Udupi: The wastewater pipeline under the Karavali bypass flyover here that connects the wet well under the flyover with the sewage treatment plant has developed further cracks and broke at many places.
This has given rise to the fear that the flyover’s foundation has been weakened making it dangerous to ply on.
The pipeline underneath the flyover goes to the sewage treatment unit at Nittur and has remained unused for more than 100 days.
Hence, the wastewater is not going to the treatment plant but directly to the Indrali river.
It has been alleged that the company that built the flyover damaged the pipelines during the flyover’s construction and did not repair it later.
