5 security personnel killed, 10 injured in encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Five security personnel were killed and 10 others injured in the line of duty in an encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, a top police officer said.

According to police, Maoists have also been killed during the exchange of fire.

“The encounter broke out in Tarrem area (along Sukma and Bijapur border) when a joint team of security forces was out on an anti-Naxal (Maoist) operation,” Chhattisgarh Director General of Police DM Awasthi told PTI.
