Bengaluru: More than 500 engineers are yet to assigned roles in the State government due to a lack of coordination in the State’s Departments of Public Works, Water Resources and the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
The government had decided to reassign the engineers in the PWD department to various other departments. But reportedly, seniority issues among officials in these other departments is stalling the process.
The engineers in the Department of Public Works have been working there for about 25-30 years. However, those in the other departments are recent appointees. The new engineers are afraid that the reassigned and experienced engineers from the PWD will get priority in departmental promotions due to their seniority.
Additionally, the reassigned PWD engineers are also worried that their appointments to other departments, corporations and boards is not a permanent assignment.
