Bengaluru: A fight between a couple at Obalesh Colony here turned violent resulting in the wife strangling her husband to death by kicking his throat.

Mohan and Padma both work at BBMP. In 2004, they were married and the couple have three sons.

Mohan was a liquor addict which was the cause of quarrels between the couple. He was admitted to a de-addiction centre for six months.

However, on his return, he started consuming liquor again.

On Sunday afternoon at about 3:15 pm, Mohan came home drunk and quarrelled with his wife for money.

The quarrel led to violence between them. Padma pushed Mohan down on the floor and kicked his throat. When Mohan started choking, she asked for help from neighbours who took him to a nearby hospital.

He was then shifted to KIMS for further treatment but died without responding to treatment.

A relative of Mohan registered a complaint with the JJ Nagar police station after which Padma was taken into custody.
