Wait time at B’luru crematoriums go up as Covid-19 death toll surges

Bengaluru: The wait time for bodies at crematoria has gone up to 3-4 hours as the Covid-19 deaths increasing in the city day by day.

Usually, crematoria used to get 5-6 bodies a day but now, they are getting about 22-25 dead bodies every day, including 15 Covid bodies, as the result the workers are forced to work till 11.30 pm and come back by 6 am the next day.

Reportedly, It takes about 45-60 minutes to cremate a body.

Karnataka reported 11,265 fresh infections and 38 deaths, taking the tally and toll to 10,94,912 and 13,046, the health department said.

Bengaluru urban district accounted for 8,155 infections and 23 deaths on Wednesday.
