Belthangady: Forest Minister Aravind Limbavali announced planting of fruit-bearing trees on 100 acres of forest land in the Belthangady Assembly constituency on June 5 World Environment Day.

The initiative is to address the shortage of food for animals in the forest.

Limbavali was speaking to reporters after a meeting with the forest department officials in Dharmasthala on Saturday.

“Dharmsthala’s Dharmadhiakri Dr Veerendra Heggade had planned of such an initiative to prevent damages to farms by wildlife who go without food. I am convinced that this is a good initiative and Dr Heggade would be inaugurating this tree planting drive on June 5,” the minister said.
