Udupi district saw 644 couples tying the knot during weekend curfew

Udupi: During the weekend curfew 644 wedding ceremonies were held in the district.

The weekend curfew was immensely successful in the district with all kinds of commercial establishments and transport services staying shut.

Police had set up barricades at many places in the town including the town’s main clock tower and the Manipal Syndicate Circle.

The police stopped each vehicle passing through the barricades and allowed only those whose passengers gave a valid reason while others were sent back.

A total of 79 wedding ceremonies were held in Karkala, 58 in Hebri, 243 in Kundapur, 79 in Byndoor, 122 in Udupi, 47 in Kaup and 79 in Brahmavara. All of them had obtained prior permission from the respective tehsildar.
