Bengaluru: Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar said that the anti-COVID-19 vaccine will not be administered to those above the age of 18 from May 1.

Speaking to reporters, he said that people over the age of 18 should not visit hospitals tomorrow for the vaccine as we have not yet received an adequate quantity of the vaccines.

“The companies have so far not provided us with any information when they will deliver new stocks, so everybody is advised not to rush to hospitals tomorrow,” he added.

He also said that 18-45-year-olds who have registered in the portal will have to wait till the next date for the vaccine.

“Once we start vaccinating then we will require 4-5 lakhs doses every day. We would need at least 30 lakh vaccine doses in reserve to efficiently extend the vaccination for all,” the minister said quoting officials.
