As the world fights the second wave of COVID-19, it has become extremely important to provide our body with food that can improve our immune system to fight against the pathogens that happen to enter the body.

Apart from regular exercise and avoiding the consumption of alcohol and tobacco, one must consume food that helps our body become less susceptible to falling sick.

Below are some food to boost the immune system:

  1. Garlic: Garlic not only adds flavor to a number of dishes but is also classified as an immune booster. Note that garlic should be consumed raw or cooked and not supplements.
  2. Ginger: Ginger is often used to alleviate upset stomach but it is also an excellent remedy for common cold and flu. Consume it in a ginger-tulsi decoction for better results.
  3. Chia seeds: Being rich in protein, fibre and omega-3s, chia seeds help in reducing the risk of heart diseases.
  4. Goji berries: They have high levels of antioxidants that protect the body against free radicals. Goji berries are rich in copper, iron, selenium and zinc.
