Mangaluru: Eleven members of a family residing at Kottara here recovered from COVID-19 without undergoing hospitalisation.
Rajgopal Rai (58) was the first in the house to be infected by the virus. Later his wife Poornima (54), their 27 and 25-year-old children and seven other relatives from Mumbai including a 2-year-old child were also infected.
After testing positive, Rajgopal called the family doctor and took the medicines prescribed by him and underwent a blood test. He consumed traditional Kashayas and increased his fruits and liquid intake.
Poornima would ensure that each day everybody was consuming eggs, nendran bananas, oranges along with lemon juice and 3 to 4 litres of water.
“It is not right to go to the hospital as soon as the infection is confirmed. That puts pressure on doctors and nurses at the hospital. It is best to take care of COVID-19 patients at home,” said Poornima.
“No one should be scared for any reason after the infection is confirmed. Keep checking the oxygen level in the body regularly on the oximeter and go to the hospital only if it is below the prescribed limit. Maximum intake of water is essential during this period,” advised Poornima.
