Kundapur: Yadamoge GP prez runs over man, arrested

Kundapura: An incident where the president of Yadamoge gram panchayat in the taluk here running over his car on a resident was reported on Saturday night.

Uday Ganiga (45) was identified as the victim.

It is alleged to be a case of murder as there was reportedly personal enmity between Ganiga and panchayat president Pranesh Yadiyal.

Soon after the incident, Yadiyal left his car on the spot and escaped.

He was later arrested from the house of a Ullur gram panchayat member at around 3 am.

Locals called an ambulance and carried Ganiga to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Ganiga, who runs a fertilizer shop in the village, had recently posted about irregularities in the gram panchayat on social media leading to a personal feud between him and Yadiyal.

He is survived by a wife and two children.
