Bengaluru: The State government has decided to re-introduce the mentor system for students who do not have the devices allowing them access to online learning.
The system will continue with the structure of one teacher mentoring 15 students. The teachers will have to meet and update the parents of the students and update them on the learning outcomes.
Like last year, the system has come under criticism from many sections.
During the first wave of the pandemic, when the system was introduced, many students and teachers contracted the virus.
Experts also pointed that the system burdens the parents of students especially those from the lower-income group who may not be well adept at helping their children with learning.
