Mysuru: The fuel prices in the country have been on the upward trend ever since the declaration of Assembly election results in five states on May 2, 2021. In many states, the petrol prices have already crossed Rs 100/litre and in many states, they are inching closer to that mark. As the fuel prices are soaring high, a Mysuru-based fuel station has come up with a novel initiative.
N Sundaram and Sons petrol bunk near Bogadi Circle in the city has been giving free five litres of petrol to medical and non-medical volunteers who are serving the pandemic-hit. More than 50 volunteers have been benefited so far.
Kumar K S, the proprietor of the fuel station, came up with the initiative after seeing the plight of the volunteers and Covid Warriors spending money from their own pockets to reach various destinations to serve patients.
Suresh Kumar, a part of the team said that at a meeting, when they were discussing the tireless and selfless work of Covid volunteers, Kumar decided to offer free petrol worth Rs 20,000 to COVID warriors.
Kumar, an industrialist, and several like-minded people have so far launched various relief works, including distribution of food kits, to the needy during the pandemic.
