Bagalkote: A bike rider died in Hunagunda in the district here after being hit by the car of Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi’s son Chidananda Savadi.

The deceased bike rider has been identified as 58-year-old Kodaleppa Boli.

The incident occurred near Kudalasangama Cross on National Highway 50 in Hunugunda taluk.

“I was not in the car that caused the accident. I was in a friend’s car ahead of my car. It is true that there was an accident. As there was no one in that place when the accident occurred, I called the ambulance immediately and admitted the accident victim to the hospital,” said Chidananda.

However, the relatives of the deceased are claiming that Chidananda is lying. They claim that he and others with him escaped after the accident.

They are further alleging that attempts were made to cover up the accident.
