Udupi: A child of a Bagalkote-based couple, who live in a shed near the Karavali Bypass here, has been allegedly abducted by a stranger.

The couple, Bharathi and Arun, and their son Shivraj (2.4 years) are from the Muddhol taluk in Bagalkot district.

Since the lockdown began the couple, who are migrant workers, have been living in a shed near the Karavali Bypass.

A man claiming to be from Bagalkote district recently acquainted himself with the couple.

On Sunday morning, he took the child from the couple saying that he wants to take him to the tea shop but did not return.

The couple suspects that their child has been abducted by that man.

They have lodged a complaint at the Udupi town police station and the police have already started an investigation.
