Bengaluru: The speculation of leadership change is being surfaced in BJP in Karnataka with a section of party MLAs expressing displeasure over the functioning style of Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa.
Amid the rumours, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa’s son B Y Raghavendra, Lok Sabha MP from Shivamogga said all speculations revolving around a possible change in leadership in the Karnataka government are “baseless”.
Speaking to the reporters, B Y Raghavendra said, ” BS Yediyurappa has worked towards the well being of the party and built BJP in Karnataka. The statement made by some leaders regarding the CM change will harm the party itself. Many Lingayat seers have been backing Yediyurappa and this should not be seen as part of lobbying in favour of any person.”
However, BJP MLC and former JD(S) leader AH Vishwanath said that it was A K Subbaiah who built the party (BJP) in Karnataka and at present, the Yediyurappa is merely promoting the interests of his family.
On the other hand, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Thursday has hinted at his resignation. He said that he would resign if the BJP’s central leadership asks him to do so.
