New rules and technology to be introduced in Kambala

Mangaluru: The organising committee of Kambala have decided to make certain changes to the rules of the local sport which will be effective from this year.

Additionally, laser-based technology will also be acquired and utilised during the performance of the sport.

The changes to the rules of Kambala include:
One jockey can steer only three pairs of buffaloes
All Kambala matches are to be completed within 24 hours of beginning it
The jockey and buffaloes should come to the field within 5 minutes of announcement else the Kambala team will be disqualified
District level Kambala committees will be the authority for any complaints related to a match
Kambala team that has been found to have committed wrong will be suspended for a year
Kambala judges must be medically fit and cannot consume liquor when a match is ongoing
All Kambala jockeys and buffaloe owners should be members of the Kambala committee to participate in matches
