Udupi: Prof loses money after clicking on URL sent to his mob phone

Udupi: An associate professor here lost Rs 67,000 from his bank account after opening a URL sent to his mobile phone from an unknown number.
Mohan Babu (43), Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at KMC received the URL on his phone on August 3.
The message which contained the URL stated that the KYC updation for his account with State Bank of India’s Manipal branch is pending and he can do it online.
After opening the URL, Mohan Babu received messages of withdrawal of Rs 20,000, Rs 33,500 and Rs 33,500 from his bank account.
A case has been registered.
