Mangaluru: Leaders of the Karnataka region Raitha Sangha have taken objection to a viral Yakshagana video for allegedly mocking the farmers protesting the agrarian bills introduced by the Centre.

Condemning the dialogues made by a Yakshagana artiste, the Raitha Sangha leaders alleged that the popular folk art was being used to show farmers in poor light with the intent of supporting political party.

In the viral clip, the artiste says that those protesting the farm laws are not ‘real’ farmers as they are still tilling the paddy fields. Further, it is stated that even if the protests continue for another six years it will not yield any result.

Taking offense to the views expressed during the Yakshagana, Yadav Shetty, vice president of Karnataka region Raitha Sangha said that the artiste has degraded the art of Yakshagana by using it to further a false propaganda against the farmers’ protest.
