Panchavarna Rajyotsava Award for Ravi Katapadi

Kundapur: The Panchavarna Yuvaka Mandala will confer Panchavarna Rajyotsava Award on social worker Ravi Katapady on November 1 at Kota.
Ravi Katpadi is a construction worker and a social worker living in Udupi, Karnataka. Every year on Janmshatami Ravi Katpadi slips into a new avatar, it could be a superhero or even a villain, and goes around visiting every nook and corner of his village, Katpadi in Udupi.
He raises money to help sick children and families by covering their treatments. In the past 7 years, he has collected and donated Rs 72 lakhs for various causes through his disguises during the festival.
For this year’s Sri Krishna Janmasthami, Ravi Katpady had donned the guise of the monster from the Hollywood movie ‘Dark Light.’
He had also participated in the Amitabh Bachan-hosted ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ television game show and won Rs 8 lakhs which he donated for a charity cause.
Ravi has received several awards over the years for his contribution and social work.
