Puttur: The coordination committee of Dalit organizations on Saturday condemned the rape of a minor Dalit girl by RSS leader, Narayana Rai, and demanded strict action against him.
It is said that the victim used to work on Rai’s farm in Badagannur village, Puttur taluk. The girl gave birth to a baby recently.
The committee members alleged that Narayan Rai’s name was mentioned at the time of delivery but the medical officer and staff of Lady Goschen Hospital obtained a false statement signed by the victim in order to protect Rai and told the girl that the girl’s elder brother’s name is being heard in the case.
They further alleged that the police officials threatened the girl’s family and also changed the name of the accused as Pramod in the FIR. The girl’s brother was arrested by the cops without valid proof.
The organizations demanded an in-depth investigation of the case, legal action against the Puttur rural police officials and also urged to conduct DNA tests of the accused and the girl.
They warned of holding a protest in front of Puttur rural police station at Sampya if there is a delay in meeting these demands.
