Self-defence classes planned for girls at colleges: Bommai

Hubballi: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday said that colleges in Karnataka will have special self-defence training sessions for young girls.
Speaking to the reporters, Bommai said, ” The girls will be trained by the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP)’s women platoon. Also, retired principals who worked in police training schools will also be appointed to train the girls.”
Talking about the flood situation in Kerala, he said, ” I spoke to Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and expressed deep grief over the loss of lives due to heavy rains & landslides. I have asked Karnataka Chief Secretary P Ravi Kumar to be in touch with the Kerala Chief Secretary for all support in relief and rehabilitation.”
“Also, steps have been taken to protect people from Karnataka who are stranded in Uttarakhand following heavy floods and landslides. Tushar Girinath has been appointed as the Nodal officer,” he added.
