Kalaburagi: Woman throws three daughters into well, kills self over harassment by in-laws for male child

Kalaburagi: A woman threw her three daughters into a well and then committed suicide following harassment by her in-laws for giving birth to daughters. The incident took place at Madkal village of Alanda taluk on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Lakshmi Elake. Her two daughters Gauramma (6), Savithri (1) died, four-year-old Eshwari was rescued by the locals.

Lakshmi’s in-laws allegedly harassed her for giving birth to three daughters, while they desired a male child.

Unable to bear harassment, the woman killed herself and the daughters by jumping into the well on the outskirts of the village.

A case has been registered and further investigations are underway.
