Former minister and retires IAS officer Dr J Alexander passes away

Bengaluru: Former minister and retired IAS officer Dr. J. Alexander (83) died in Bengaluru on Friday.
Alexander was being treated at a hospital in the city but passed away today afternoon without responding to treatment. He is survived by two children and 4 grandchildren. His funeral will be performed in Bengaluru on Saturday, family sources said.
Alexander, originally from Kerala, moved to Karnataka as an IAS officer. He retired after serving as chief secretary in the state. He later entered state politics and was elected as MLA from the then Bengaluru Bharati Nagar assembly constituency on a Congress ticket.
Even before he became chief secretary, he was known as the only officer to work in all departments of the state government.
