Bengaluru: A private insurance company has lodged a complaint against a woman accusing her of claiming a three crore insurance policy on her husband’s life by submitting false documents.
Based on the complaint filed by the manager of the law department of the insurance firm Koramangala police registered the FIR against Supriya.
As per the complaint, Supriya was the nominee to a three-crore life insurance policy of her husband Krishnaprasad Garalapatti (31), a native of Andhra Pradesh. The said policy had been availed online in March last year. Krishnaprasad passed away on May 14, 2021. Later his wife submitted documents claiming that he died of a heart attack for the claim process.
The company after verifying the documents processed the claim and transferred a sum of Rs 3.2 crore to Supriya’s bank account.
The fraud came to light when a man named Ravi contacted the insurance company and in a writ statement claimed that Krishnaprasad died of cancer. He further claimed that though Krishnaprasad was aware of his cancer he had concealed this fact while taking the policy. Ravi also furnished documents to support his claim.
The company investigated the matter and upon finding truth in Ravi’s claims, they approached the police to lodge a cheating complaint.
