Rs 36L released for cowshelter at Kadaba’s Ramakunja village: DK DC

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Rajendra K V informed that the state government has released a grant of Rs 36 lac for purpose of building a gaushala at Ramakunja village in Kadaba taluk.

In the first phase, works such as fencing of a ten-acre plot and drilling of borewells will be undertaken. Sheds for the cows will be built in the second phase,

The government has identified 98.45 acres for the purpose. He further added that cow shelters will be built in all taluks of the district with the support of temples falling under the religious endowment department.

Land for building the gaushalas through the temples, including Kukke Subrahmanya temple, Kateel Durgaparameshwari temple, Polali Rajarajeshwari temple, Puttur Lord Mahalingeshwara temple and Sowthadka Mahaganapathi temple, will be earmarked by the district administration, the DC said.

At Kukke Subrahmanya temple plans are afloat to build the shelter in the deemed forest area near the shrine without cutting down the trees. The shelter will be designed in an environment-friendly manner and these will be further developed to attract tourists. The money collected through the devotees will be utilised to run the gaushala, he added.
