M’luru: State Bank service bus stand to get Rs 4.2 crore facelift

Mangaluru: Service bus stand at State Bank in the heart of the City is all set for a much-needed makeover. Mangaluru City Corporation, Smart City Corporation and MUDA have decided to collectively contribute Rs 4.2 crores for its renovation, upgradation and expansion.
The crumbling infrastructure at the bus stand, which serves thousands every day, was in dire need of renovation. Udayavani ‘Sudina’ newspaper had written a detailed report many months back about the pitiable condidion of this important bus stop of the city.
Manglauru City Mayor Premananda Shetty informed that the service bus stop will be developed on priority basis. The service bus stop will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 4.2 crores, he said and added that the tender process for the works will soon begin.
At present, the crumbling infrastructure at the service bus stop has been a cause of concern. The rusty poles, leaky and broken roof, pothole filled road and broken benches, are inconveniencing travellers especially elderly and the children.
Once upgraded, commuters can expect better facilitites at the bus stop. It has decided to replace the roof sheets. The road will be upgraded to concrete. The seating facilities and restrooms will also be upgraded, the Mayor said.
