Puttur: A man was arrested under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act for sexually harassing a minor girl.

Puttur police officials arrested Rakshith, a resident of Sullia based on a complaint by the victim girl’s father.

It is said that the accused made a phone call to her hostel claiming to be the victim’s brother. He then asked the victim to meet him outside.  When she refused, he threatened to kill her.

The victim went to meet him at Beeramale gudde where Rakshith sexually assaulted her. She somehow managed to escape from there and reached home. Her parents then filed a complaint against him.

It is said that earlier victim’s father had warned Rakshith to stay away from his daughter and a complaint too was filed at Sullia Police station.
