Mangaluru: KPCC vice-president and former minister Ramanath Rai demanded the ouster of Minister K S Eshwarappa from the cabinet post following the death of contractor Santhosh in Udupi.

Rai was speaking to the media at a press conference held at the DK District office of the Congress party on Wednesday, April 13.

The fact that Santhosh had accused the minister of “demanding 40 percent commissions” and the recovery of suicide note blaming the minister for the death should be considered “similar to murder.” For this reason, a criminal case should be initiated against Eshwarappa, he added.

“This (Santhosh’s suicide) is a serious matter,” Rai said.

The Congress leader reminded the turn of events during the investigation of DYSP Ganapathi’s suicide case in 2016. Rai said that the Congress government had not only handed over the investigation to the CBI but also ensured that the accused resign from government posts.

Ramanath Rai also alleged that the “negligence” shown by Prime Minister has led to the present situation. ” those who came to power with the motto of ‘Na Khaoonga na Khaane Doonga’ are silent. The president of the contractors’ association Kempanna had written tot he PM Narendra Modi about the 40 percent commission. But the PM neglected it, which has led to the present situation,” he added.
