M’luru: 80-yo beggar woman donates Rs 1 lakh for Polali temple’s Annadana programme

An 80-year-old woman, hailing from Kundapur who ekes out her living through begging, donated Rs 1 lakh to Polali Sri Rajarajeshwari temple here.

On Friday the woman Ashwathamma handed over the money to the temple trustees for the Annadana programme of the temple.

Notably, Ashwathamma had been begging in front of Polali temple during its annual jathra mahotsava that concluded recently.

Ashwathamma has been seeking alms at various temples for the past eighteen years following the demise of her husband. Her children too passed away She used to deposit her earnings in a savings account after keeping a small portion for her personal expenses. The savings would be donated to various temples.

As per a TOI report the octagenarian has donated Rs six lakh to various temples in the past 18 years.
